CutMyBill compares what Irish households actually pay for electricity and gas, using the suppliers' own published prices — in Chinese and English, with every figure traceable to the page it came from.

What it does

You enter your annual usage, meter type, region and, if you want, your current bill. The tool costs every plan we track under those conditions and ranks them by what a year would cost you. Each result shows the discount, the unit rates, the standing charge, the annual cost after discount, the source page, and the date we last checked it.

Where the prices come from

We track 11 suppliers and take prices only from their own published tariff pages, plan pages, price PDFs, or the structured data those pages expose — never from another comparison site. An automated run re-reads every source each morning. If a figure cannot be verified it is not published, and if a source has not changed lately it is flagged as stale rather than filled in with a guess.

Where a supplier publishes its own annual bill estimate we anchor to that figure and scale it to your usage. Where it does not, we calculate from the published unit rates, standing charge, PSO levy and prepay service charges. Typical consumption comes from the CRU (Commission for Regulation of Utilities): 4,200 kWh of electricity and 11,000 kWh of gas a year.

What it does not do

We do not switch anything for you, sign you up, handle your bills, or take payment. "Switch now" opens the supplier's own website so that you deal with them directly. We do not sell or share visitor data, and there is no advertising on the site.

And the estimates are estimates. They assume the standard usage above unless you change it, and they assume you qualify for the advertised discount, which usually means direct debit and paperless billing. Your real bill will differ. Check the supplier's terms and eligibility before switching.

How it is paid for

At the moment it is not. CutMyBill carries no advertising and earns no commission. If we later join an affiliate programme, where a supplier pays us for a completed switch, we will disclose it on the affected links and on our privacy page. The ranking stays independent of it: order is decided by annual cost and nothing else.

Accuracy

Prices are re-read from the suppliers' own pages every morning. When a source page changes shape, or a figure cannot be verified against it, we go back to the supplier's own page and re-check it rather than fill in a guess.
