Privacy & cookie notice
CutMyBill is a static price-comparison site for Irish household electricity and gas. It has no accounts, no forms and no third-party tracking. This page sets out the little data involved.
Who is responsible
Chinese Circle runs CutMyBill and is the data controller for this site. You can reach us at [email protected].
What the site collects
Nothing you type is sent anywhere. Your annual usage, meter type, region, current bill and current supplier are read by JavaScript inside your own browser and used to sort the results on your screen. They never leave your device, they are not saved, and we cannot see them.
There is no login, no newsletter, no contact form and no embedded third-party service: no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no social plug-ins, no chat widget, and no fonts or scripts loaded from another domain.
What is stored in your browser
Three entries in your browser's local storage. All three are functional, and none of them is a cookie or is sent to our servers:

Clearing your browser's site data removes all three. Nothing else is written to your device.
Cookies
CutMyBill sets no cookies of its own, and today no third-party cookies either. Accepting "everything" in the banner does not load anything extra yet: the choice is recorded so that optional tools can be switched on later without asking you again. If you choose "necessary only", nothing optional is loaded — now or later.
One point worth being precise about. Clicking "Switch now" takes you to the supplier's own website. Any cookie set there — including a referral or affiliate cookie — is set by that supplier or their affiliate network, on their domain, and is covered by their privacy notice rather than ours. Our banner decides what this site loads; no banner of ours can decide what a supplier does after you leave.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare records standard request data — IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested and the time — in order to deliver and protect the service. We do not use those logs to identify visitors and we do not combine them with anything else. How Cloudflare handles that data is described in Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
Links to other websites
Price sources, "Switch now" buttons and supplier links lead to pages we do not control. When you follow one, the destination site receives what your browser normally sends, including your IP address and the page you arrived from. Their notices govern what they do with it.
Commission and independence
Today CutMyBill earns nothing from the links on it: every switch link goes straight to the supplier's own sign-up page. If we later join an affiliate programme and earn commission on some switches, we will say so here and mark the affected links. It will not affect the ranking — order is decided by what a plan costs a year, calculated from published tariffs and your usage. No supplier can pay to appear cheaper, and none can pay to move up.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and you may complain to a supervisory authority. In practice we hold almost nothing about you: calculator inputs never reach us, and the only data linked to a visit is the host's server log described above. To exercise a right, write to [email protected] and we will tell you what, if anything, we hold.
Ireland's supervisory authority is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Changes to this notice
Last updated 2026-09-25. If this notice changes in a way that affects what is stored or loaded on your device, the version recorded with your cookie choice changes too, and we will ask again.
